Awards
From the very first year, Roger exhibited at Chelsea and inaurgral Hampton court and has been involved ever since with RHS Flower Shows, in the early years with large show gardens and lately as a flower grow judge and moderator.
The first show garden at Chelsea achieved GOLD and since then he has achieved a total of 8 RHS GOLD medals. In addition, Roger was awarded the ‘Peoples Choice’ award for the M&G garden in 2010 and the ‘Best Show Garden’ Award in 2002, created to celebrate 75 years of the National Garden Scheme.

RHS Gold Medal Award for ‘The M&G Garden’
To mark the centenary of The Chelsea Flower Show, Roger created a garden for M&G in 2013 called ‘Windows through time’. It celebrated 100 years of Chelsea Flower Show Gardens, depicting many elements seen through the past century.

RHS Gold Medal Award for ‘The M&G Garden’
The M&G Garden, designed for the show sponsors in their first year at the show was quintessentially English and a celebration of tradition and heritage. It was constructed using local materials such as English oak Pergolas and Sussex sandstone. Trademarks of Roger’s characteristic strong garden structure and light romantic planting.

The ‘People’s Choice’ Award for ‘The M&G Garden’
As the name suggests, these awards are voted for by the general public – both those who visit the show in person, on TV and those who enjoy seeing the garden photos on the RHS website. Millions of viewers voted and the Award was given to Roger and his Garden.

RHS Gold Medal Award for ‘Garden Open’
The garden was in celebration of 75 years of the National Gardens Scheme and the famous Yellow Book which attracts thousands of garden visitors every year. The theme is a neglected walled garden of which part has been refurbished by the owners, who are keen to open for the NGS and raise funds for their beneficiaries.

RHS Gold Medal Award for ‘The Spout Garden’
Inspired by memories of Roger’s upbringing on a farm, where cows would linger and drink water from a hillside spring it depicts a water trough, rusty park railings, oak shelter and cart track, transformed into a romantic hillside garden on the famous Chelsea rockbank site. His second Gold Award Garden at the Chelsea Show.
