As anticipated by Roger and his team, Sunday 8th August saw a flurry of visitors to Leydens for this year’s NGS Garden Open for charity.
Following a successful garden at the Chelsea Flower Show earlier in May – scooping him another gold medal and the People’s Choice Award – over five hundred garden enthusiasts travelling from the far reaches of the Kent borders and beyond, swept through the gates at his private garden in Kent to see just how the designer ‘does things at home’.
“It’s great to see such a show of people visit us at our Garden Open,” says Roger, who had to plough more field to allow more cars to park. “This year we can see a lot more growth in the top border to the field, plus our kitchen garden – which was only in the planning stages last year – has come on a treat.” For extra eye-candy, Roger displayed his two beloved Morris Cowleys, his vintage tractor, plus a display of photographs from the Chelsea Flower Show.
Through entrance and teas, the day has raised almost £3,000 for the NGS charities – many, many thanks to all of our visitors.
